“Do
you think I have come to bring peace to the earth?
No,
I tell you, but rather division!”
Luke 12:51
I sense a disturbance in the faith Erling Shultz, August 2019
peace
on earth…
…no peace for you,
do
not be afraid…
…be wise to be fearful,
no
need to worry…
…get yourself prepared,
one
in Christ…
…apart in people;
I sense a disturbance in the faith
is
it conflictions or preconditions,
descriptive or prescriptive,
destructive or preconstruction?
I’m confused as to what’s expected
do
we dare ponder this disturbance,
or ignore the static and return to status?
I
hear a call to look beyond
the incoming front of rain and/or
shine,
(the weather of judgment
and/or acceptance)
(the easy and pre-scripted)
and notice
the change of season –
the season of God
displaying the ripeness of restorative
justice;
(the time to un-comfort the faith)
but
still,
I sense a disturbance in the family of faith,
not all brothers and sisters
notice the change of which seeds
now to sow
to
plant the Peace
means confronting the powerful
who thrive on suppression and overt
oppression;
the comfortable faith replies,
keep them blissful –
we’ll worry when they come after we
to
grow more Daring and Appreciative
means facing our own liberation
and notice the Christ which resides within;
the sufficient faith replies,
I’m much more human than divine –
excuse me while I fetch what
belongs to me
to
become One and Unified
means setting aside the need to win
and spend less time in proving your right;
the righteous faith replies,
the rules state they get what they
deserve –
time now to white-wash the fence
I
sense a real disturbance in the family of faith;
disciples divided in decisions
of dogma and creed, ism and doxy
(differences that disturb us more
than God)
may
be in this season of God
(to stem the climate change of hate
before it’s too late)
we sow the seeds of faith
and pluck up the belief;
may
be to harvest the Peace
we till the soil with trust
nurture with integrity,
water with respect,
and fertilize with grace
